August 2023 Newsletter

Hard to believe August is upon us. Summer in Canada is fleeting. Hope everyone has made the most of it as we are rapidly approaching the winter TDWSA season.  This newsletter is an abbreviated one just to provide some quick updates regarding the Fall season. Look for a more comprehensive communication, which will include a recap of Summer Leagues, in late August/early September.  If you haven't already, please start recruiting for your teams. We want this season to be bigger and better than last!  For those who may be having trouble with numbers, keep in mind that  players who are on the cusp of a division (say C1/B4) can anchor a C Team and still be a regular sub on the club's B Team.  Players belonging to clubs where there are not enough players to form a team, are permitted to play on a team from another club, as long as the other club approves. (This is not up to TDWSA).  Finally, anyone who cannot commit to a regular team but would still like to play on occasion, can sign up to the sub pool.

B Division to Change nights

This fall, A and C Divisions will play on Tuesday nights as usual. However, D and, now B, will play on Thursday nights. Moving B from Wednesdays was done after consulting with many of the affected parties in order to eliminate the conflict with T&D Women's doubles on Wednesdays.

Registration Deadlines

Teams must be registered with payment ($140/team payable by etransfer to treasurer@tdwsa.com) by September 22nd. Schedules will be drafted in the 2 weeks after that and ready/available on Squashnut prior to the Captain's meeting.  Registration is now open! To register a team go to Squashnut, click on the League Information tab, then Team Entry.

Season start date

Regular season play will start October 10th.

Refereeing Clinic

Looking to schedule one for late September. Likely free. Stay tuned for details. Please encourage your whole team to attend.

Captain's Meeting

October 4th (time TBC but likely 7 pm) at Urban Squash Toronto (Downsview - Used to be National Squash Academy) Please plan to attend as there will be lots of important information discussed and it's a great opportunity to meet your convenors, ask questions and get clarification on all things TDWSA.

All for now everyone. Soak up the rest of the summer. Looking forward to reconnecting with this awesome community again in the Fall.
