2019 Summer C/D Results!

On Tuesday, August 20th, we closed out the Summer C/D league at Mayfair Lakeshore. Supporters cheered loudly as the top 4 teams battled for the trophy, prizes and bragging rights. It was great to see so many teams and clubs represented on both sides of the glass and enjoying themselves over dinner and drinks in the bistro afterwards.  Fighting for the #3 and #4 spots were Mayfair Lakeshore and One Health 1.  Maggie and Claire  put on a clinic burying shots deep into the back corners which helped One Health 1 pull off the win.  Carol was down 2:0 to Lakeshore's Amanda, but had to default the match when she pulled something in her leg;  Fortunately she walked off the court and though sore the next day, was feeling better as the day went along.With the season trophy up for grabs, Executive Squash & Fitness and Balmy Beach Club faced to see who would be our Champions and Finalists. Both teams had big cheering sections rooting for them. Executive held the lead all season long and were the favorites to win. When the # 2s stepped onto court, Executive was ahead 2:0, Gabrielle Amoroso and Charlotte Ghaeli having taken their matches against Balmy's Jen Rowe and Judith Allen. The Belles were determined to keep the pressure on -- and they did not disappoint!The last 2 matches of the night, with everyone gathered around courts 1 & 2, were nothing short of incredible! Each match went to 5 games with the Belles very nearly tying  the Executive team in matches.  At #2, Kim Hines (Balmy) faced off against Michelle Rawlins (Executive). Kim took the first 2 games and then Michelle powered back to win the next 3 games and the match. Executive earned the win, but the night was far from over. At #1, Christina McIsaac (Balmy) faced off against Keira Lee Rawlins (Executive) in the definitive "Match of the Night". Both athletes gave their all and demonstrated incredible physical ability, tenacity, and mental toughness. Christina won the match 15:13 in the 5th!  The results of our 2018 Summer C/D Division finals are: #1 Executive Squash & Fitness, #2 Balmy Beach Belles, #3 One Health 1, #4 Mayfair Lakeshore!Many thanks to the small army of volunteers who made sure the finals and season ran smoothly.
